What is a carbide rod?
Carbide rods are also known as rotary tool blanks and cutting tool blanks by many. Our products bring to you and the metal cutting market an exclusive combination of superior cemented carbide grades and dimensional precision that provides the features and benefits required for your demanding machining.
What is the use of tungsten carbide rod?
Tungsten carbide rods are mainly used for drills, end mills, and reamers. It can also be used for cutting, stamping, and measuring tools. It is used in papermaking, packaging, printing, and non-ferrous metal processing industries.
Is tungsten carbide a strong metal?
Tungsten carbide is an alloy of tungsten and carbon, made by heating tungsten powder with carbon and hydrogen at 1,400 - 1,600°C (2,550 - 2,900°F). The resulting alloy is 2-3 times as rigid as steel and has a compressive strength surpassing all known melted, cast, and forged metals.
Why is tungsten used in steel?
Tungsten steel refers to any steel alloy that includes tungsten as an alloying element. This provides the steel with enhanced hardness, strength, wear resistance, toughness, heat resistance and corrosion resistance.

③AGrade Carbide manufactures gundrill blanks in different lengths (full-length and cut-to-length), diameters and coolant hole geometries. These blanks can be made in different shapes, like round (kidney-shaped coolant hole on it), Vee-fluted (either one kidney-shaped or 2 straight coolant holes on it) and preformed profile tips( two straight coolant holes on it). The round blanks can be used for manufacturing solid carbide tools, while the profile rods are used for manufacturing tipped tools. Manufactured by following powdering, compressing, sintering and other processes, these blanks are known for its accurate dimensions, durability and reliable performance. The drill blanks is designed in a way to have helical coolant holes, ground matt finish with specified tolerance, and specific out diameter.
