Texas Diamond Tools leads innovation and officially introduces high-performance Stellite alloy materials

Stellite is a series of high-performance cemented carbide materials, mainly known for its excellent wear resistance, corrosion resistance and high temperature oxidation resistance. These alloys mainly use cobalt (Co) as the base, and add nickel (Ni), chromium (Cr), tungsten (W), molybdenum (Mo) and a small amount of niobium (Nb), tantalum (Ta), titanium (Ti), Lanthanum (La) and other alloying elements. According to different alloy compositions and application requirements, Stellite alloys can be divided into multiple grades, each grade has its specific performance characteristics and application scenarios. The following are some common Stellite alloy grades and their brief descriptions:


1. Stellite 6 (UNS R30006):

   - Features: It has good wear resistance and corrosion resistance, and is suitable for wear-resistant and corrosion-resistant parts in chemical, petroleum, papermaking and other industries, such as pump valve seals, nozzles, etc.

   -Application fields: chemical equipment, oil drilling, papermaking machinery, etc.

2. Stellite 21:

   - Features: Contains a high proportion of molybdenum, which enables it to maintain good mechanical properties in high temperature environments and is suitable for high temperature applications.

   -Application fields: aerospace engine parts, heat treatment fixtures and other parts in high-temperature environments.

3. Stellite 12:

   - Features: High chromium content, particularly corrosion-resistant, suitable for parts in contact with corrosive media.

   - Application fields: Corrosion-resistant components in food processing, pharmaceutical, chemical and other industries.

4. Stellite 3:

   - Features: It has good comprehensive performance, wear resistance and corrosion resistance, and is suitable for a variety of industrial environments.

   - Application areas: pump shaft sleeves, wear-resistant liners, bearing sleeves, etc.

5. Stellite 4:

   - Features: Suitable for thermal processing molds, such as hot stamping dies, hot extrusion dies, etc., because of its good thermal stability and wear resistance.

   - Application areas: mold manufacturing, thermal processing tools, etc.


In addition to the above-mentioned grades, there are others such as Stellite 6B (UNS R30016), Stellite 6K, Stellite 12 (UNS R30012), Stellite 19, etc., which are respectively targeted at specific industrial application requirements. For example, Stellite 6B may provide further optimization in some cases. Properties, such as enhanced wear resistance or specific processing characteristics.


The specific composition and performance parameters of each grade will be different. Users should determine the most suitable Stellite alloy grade based on actual application requirements when selecting. These materials can usually be processed and formed through casting, forging, powder metallurgy, surfacing, etc. to meet the needs of different shapes and sizes.
