The amount of grease applied to bearings is believed to be a question that many friends want to know, whether it is more or less, it will not achieve the most ideal lubrication effect and economic benefits. However, what we are talking about today is the correlation between bearing grease and ABS sensors. Too much grease not only affects the optimal lubrication effect, generates waste, but also leads to ABS probe failure.
The ABS probe is a delicate accessory
As time goes on, the surface of the ABS probe will become dirty
Although the surface of the ABS sensor probe is almost entirely covered with metal, in actual use, it is a rather delicate thing. Due to its location adjacent to the bearing, over time, it is easy to get dirty or even rust from various dust and grease in the bearing, filling it with dirt between it and the wheel hub ring gear, which affects the magnetic induction detection effect.

The dirty probe is no longer visible
Many ABS sensor failure cases are caused by excessive application of bearing grease, which can easily be squeezed onto the probe during wheel installation. Mild cases can affect the sensitivity of the ABS probe, while severe cases can directly cause the probe to be unable to sense the gear ring, causing the ABS system to malfunction.
This situation is slightly better
Whether it is the axle sensor bracket or the manual welding installation method in the later stage, this situation is very common. Butter, dust, and metal debris from brake pads all accumulate on the surface of the probe.
Use chemical oil cleaning agent for cleaning
After cleaning, apply butter evenly to prevent rusting inside the liner bracket
The prevention and treatment method for this situation is very simple, which is not to apply too much butter to the bearings, and to apply it in moderation. When cleaning, simply remove the probe from the bracket, thoroughly clean it, and then evenly apply a layer of butter between it and the liner to prevent rusting and death in the bracket in the future.
Cleaning completed
After cleaning, fully insert the ABS probe into the bracket from the rear, be sure to push it all the way down, and use the correct wheel installation method to restore its normal operation.

In addition to the ABS sensor probe, we also need to regularly clean the gear ring on the wheel hub, and both the probe and the gear ring need to be kept clean. Of course, when cleaning, we first need to check whether the sensor probe cable is intact. If the cable is broken, no matter how much cleaning is done, it will have no effect and we can only replace the probe.
In fact, the method of cleaning the ABS sensor probe and gear ring is very simple, and it is not as troublesome as we imagine. As long as the ABS system is working properly, we only need to pay attention to the cleanliness of them when maintaining the wheels. Only in this way can the ABS system always accurately monitor the running status of the wheels.
